date paste

Date Paste Natural Sweetener

This easy date paste natural sweetener is so good for your daily sweetening need. Perfect with baking, seasoning dishes, spread it on toast or use it as veggie dip. This paste is so easy to make and doesnt take long if you use the hot water method. Soaking the pitted date in boiling hot water speed up the softning of the date before processing compared to soaking it in coal water.

It takes about half hour for the soaked date to completely soften up and absorb about half of the soaked liquid. Depending on how thick you want your paste, you add more liquid during processing. I personally use 1 cup of boiling water to 2 cups of pitted date as i love having a consitency of a preserve. Of course you can add more water but you may end up obtaining syrup like consistency. Feel free to experiment.

So for this recipe what you need is:

  • Enough warm water to rinse your date
  • 1 cup of pitted date
  • 1 cup of boiling hot water
